Introducing Samsung WLAN 4.9.7

Samsung is pleased to announce the release of WLAN 4.9.7 software for the Access Point Controller (APC), Access Points (AP) and Wireless Enterprise Manager (WEM). With the release of 4.9.7 Samsung provides the WEA512i (2X2) and WEA524i(4X4) Wave2 Access Points and updated security features

 

New 512i and 524i Access Points

 

These 2 new Access Points provide a lower price point for your customers that do not require high feature sets from their AP’s. These do provide the same quality and performance as our high end Access Point with some limitations to feature sets.

WLAN 4.9.7 Product Features

 

The following Product Features are supported with the new WLAN 4.9.7 software:

 

  • The length of DN is extended to 255 in LDAP configuration

 

  • Station's RSSI/SNR/DataRate information is provided in local switching mode.

 

  • RRM default value of Minimum TxPower has been updated from 3 to 16.

 

Software fixes

 

Note: Some of these issues have been seen in labs or in the field. Some may not apply depending on the configuration

 

  • Apache response to request for OPTIONS is corrected
  • Apache response with PHP version is corrected
  • Configuration portal vulnerability to SWEET32 has been removed
  • SSL Medium Strength Cipher Suites Supported
  • SSL 64-bit Block Size Cipher Suites Supported SWEET32
  • WPA2 Vulnerability has been removed

 

  • Certificate usage type is configured to external while there is no uploaded certificate. (v4.7.7 only)
  • Redirects are not working with Guest Self Registration enabled. (v4.7.7 only)
  • The session timer for captive portal may not work
  • A station that is not actually connected may occupy station resources
  • Operational type cannot be configured to 802.11ac for WEA413i
  • Station may not be able to access network when inter-APC handover happens at least two times in a moment
  • cluster connection may be down/up
  • When a user moves after web authentication, the user may be redirected again to the login page.
  • L2 authentication with AD server fails if the length of User DN is >= 254
  • account process may restart
  • VRRP preemption false option fails
  • AP operating status may be disabled when AP rate-limit is configured
  • ACL may not work on remote AP
  • When many users have connected to an AP the AP web authentication mode may fail
  • WLAN may broadcast with wrong security type when an AP is moved to remote AP group
  • AP may be rebooted when QoS is configured in local switching mode. (FamilyB/C/D)
  • When an AP whose POE type is configured to auto connects to 802.3af POE switch, the AP may reboot (FamilyB/C/D)
  • AP may restart when stations are connected and disconnected. (FamilyB/C)
  • When network is very unstable, WLAN may broadcast as open instead of 802.1x.
  • Upgrade failure for standalone WIPS sensor (WEA504i)
  • Legacy devices may not associate to AP (WEA504i)
  • CAPWAP disconnects when VLAN is assigned to WAN port. (FamilyD)

WEM Limitation

If the WEM client (browser) uses more memory than threshold allows (about 1G), the browser will automatically restart.

Introducing Samsung SCM Compact 2.3 Release

Samsung is pleased to announce the release of SCM Compact 2.3 software for the IPX-300B VoIP Server. This release

 

SCM Compact 2.3 Product Features

 

The following Product Features are supported with the new SCM Compact 2.3 software:

 

  • Call recording support on Embedded VM – SCM Compact now support the use of the 6 channel embedded VM ports for IP Phone call recording
  • Answer Call Waiting via Hook flash – In this release by setting the Cabinet or Gateway configuration there is an option for Waiting Call Answer by Hook Flash. This is set per Cabinet/Gateway.
  • Digit Insertion for Analog Phones – An added configuration is provided in Single Phone User for Analog Phones to set a digit when phone is Off Hook. For example - you can set a 9 for external calls and then just dial your 7 or 10 digit number.
  • FXS Phone continuous Dial tone –When an FXS line is off-hook the SCM will send continuous Dial tone to the line with no expiration timer.

 

 

SCM Compact 2.3 Issues Resolved and Enhancements

 

The following issues in previous versions have been updated:

  • Log Setting and Gateway Log Setting were improved in ascending order
  • Domain Name Length value has been reduced in Trunk Route.
    • 2 and below 131
    • 3 and above 60
  • The SCMC immediately attempts the re-register all FXS lines when TLS reconnects between SCMC/SCME and G500
  • Corrected a License issue with Phone Type field that becomes greyed out when entered.
  • Corrected Call Graph on Main GUI display that did not match call table numbers.
  • Correct error after 64 trunk routes are setup using DNS.
  • Corrected Call History display of “Call Failure” when Call Park was successful
  • Corrected ACD Overflow issues
    • when only the first member of parallel hunt group with an ACD group overflow rings
    • a call is dropped when an ACD call is overflowed and forwarded
    • call waiting feature of hunt group doesn’t work when an ACD call is overflowed to a parallel hunt group
    • a hunt group members doesn’t display ACD information when an ACD call is overflowed to hunt group
  • Corrected an issue that immediately disconnected after receiving a call to the VM
  • Corrected an issue when a call is dropped after a user picks up an incoming call. This is because the SCM did not process the receiving INVITE message as soon as the call is picked up.
  • Corrected an issue when the display shows the 5 first characters of the Route name as the CLI during an anonymous call being delivered to the phone
  • Corrected an issue when a multi ring trunk member could not display the callers number when an incoming call is transferred to a Multi Ring extension
  • Corrected an issue with the codec option(“annexb=no”) for the G729 when VM is Called

Samsung is pleased to announce the release of SCM Express software release 6.3. This is a major release that includes an Operating System CENTOS 5 to CENTOS 6 update. Professional Services will be required when upgrading 5.4 to 6.3 releases of the systems.

Effective April 2nd, 2018 the process to log in to the Support and Self-Service Portal will change, along with the process to open support tickets.

We are happy to announce our 2018 Training options.    These training courses are designed to give the partners technician the skills needed to program, install and support the Wireless Enterprise Product line with confidence and professionalism.

 

We are offer four instructor led courses in additional to the web based courses that are already offered.

WLAN Administrator

WLAN-ADMIN is a three-day hands-on course that provides a technical overview of the complete Samsung Wireless LAN solution, including details of the Samsung WLAN controller, WEM, WES overview, Samsung Access Point hardware, Features and functionality, and Network deployment.
