Introducing Samsung WLAN 4.9.7

Samsung is pleased to announce the release of WLAN 4.9.7 software for the Access Point Controller (APC), Access Points (AP) and Wireless Enterprise Manager (WEM). With the release of 4.9.7 Samsung provides the WEA512i (2X2) and WEA524i(4X4) Wave2 Access Points and updated security features

 

New 512i and 524i Access Points

 

These 2 new Access Points provide a lower price point for your customers that do not require high feature sets from their AP’s. These do provide the same quality and performance as our high end Access Point with some limitations to feature sets.

WLAN 4.9.7 Product Features

 

The following Product Features are supported with the new WLAN 4.9.7 software:

 

  • The length of DN is extended to 255 in LDAP configuration

 

  • Station's RSSI/SNR/DataRate information is provided in local switching mode.

 

  • RRM default value of Minimum TxPower has been updated from 3 to 16.

 

Software fixes

 

Note: Some of these issues have been seen in labs or in the field. Some may not apply depending on the configuration

 

  • Apache response to request for OPTIONS is corrected
  • Apache response with PHP version is corrected
  • Configuration portal vulnerability to SWEET32 has been removed
  • SSL Medium Strength Cipher Suites Supported
  • SSL 64-bit Block Size Cipher Suites Supported SWEET32
  • WPA2 Vulnerability has been removed

 

  • Certificate usage type is configured to external while there is no uploaded certificate. (v4.7.7 only)
  • Redirects are not working with Guest Self Registration enabled. (v4.7.7 only)
  • The session timer for captive portal may not work
  • A station that is not actually connected may occupy station resources
  • Operational type cannot be configured to 802.11ac for WEA413i
  • Station may not be able to access network when inter-APC handover happens at least two times in a moment
  • cluster connection may be down/up
  • When a user moves after web authentication, the user may be redirected again to the login page.
  • L2 authentication with AD server fails if the length of User DN is >= 254
  • account process may restart
  • VRRP preemption false option fails
  • AP operating status may be disabled when AP rate-limit is configured
  • ACL may not work on remote AP
  • When many users have connected to an AP the AP web authentication mode may fail
  • WLAN may broadcast with wrong security type when an AP is moved to remote AP group
  • AP may be rebooted when QoS is configured in local switching mode. (FamilyB/C/D)
  • When an AP whose POE type is configured to auto connects to 802.3af POE switch, the AP may reboot (FamilyB/C/D)
  • AP may restart when stations are connected and disconnected. (FamilyB/C)
  • When network is very unstable, WLAN may broadcast as open instead of 802.1x.
  • Upgrade failure for standalone WIPS sensor (WEA504i)
  • Legacy devices may not associate to AP (WEA504i)
  • CAPWAP disconnects when VLAN is assigned to WAN port. (FamilyD)

 

WEM 4.9.7 New Features

 

  • Support for WDS-524i

 

 

 

WEM Software fixes

 

  • Error resolved when configuring TxPower at Configuration > AP > Radio

 

WEM Limitation

If the WEM client (browser) uses more memory than threshold allows (about 1G), the browser will automatically restart.
